One of the main goals of ISAP is to be a forum for presenting new concepts and new data pertaining to the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of antiinfective agents. These new concepts and data may, possibly, become part of the basic science of antiinfective chemotherapy.
Over the years, the symposia, which ISAP holdd immediatly after the Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (ICAAC) has become specifically devoted to this type "New concept/New data" discussion meeting (see "Past meetings and activities").
This year's meeting will be no exception to this rule and the programme will focus both on controversial issues, where new data and discussions are needed, as well as on the presentation of the pharmacokinetics pharmacodynamics of new agents, in relation to drug development.
The spirit of the meeting is to foster real, in depth discussion among all participants. For that reaons, resentations are meant to be informative, and even sometimes provocative, and to concentrate always on new concepts and data that represent the cutting edge of the Science of Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics of Antiinfectives.
As for the other years, special time will be allowed for young scientists to present their data in a atmosphere of free but constructive criticism (see next section).
ISAP wishes to encourage young investigators to attend and present data at its scientific meetings. Young scientists are, therefore, invited to submit abstracts (half a page; this may be the same as an abstact submitted to ICAAC) to the President of the Society (Prof. H. Derendorf; mail: hartmut@ufl.edu ) with a copy to the ISAP secretariat (info@congresscare.com) as soon as possible and before September 10th, 2005.
ISAP will offer two (2) fellowships of US $ 500.- each to presenters who otherwise would be unable to attend the meeting (this fellowship may complement other sources raised to attend ICCAC if these do not provide the necesssary amount or are clearly unsufficient). Fellowships will be awarded based on scientific merits and of perception of a financial need.
Notification to succesful applicants will be made as soon as possible. Actual payment of the fellowships will be made at the time of the meeting.
